Diary Of A Mad Cat
Friday Night Lament: Fuzzball held hostage 5

by Fuzzball

Kits and Kittens, the anticipation has been great! Mom and I alternate looking out the window and staring at the mailbox. I don't understand everything yet, but I know she's ordered me a FRIEND! Poor Fuzzball has been lonely since mom started reading e-books from Changeling, but the loneliness will end soon.

I've had a lot of attention from mom lately, though. Something's wrong with the air conditioner in the computer room. Mom won't go back and read until my friend gets here. She says that the stories are too hot or something. I don't know how my friend will help her - maybe she means she won't have to worry about me as much. But for now I'm getting adored on a regular basis. As it should be.

1:00pm. Time for the mailman. Mom and I both spring to the window and hold open the miniblinds so we can watch. OH!!! A Box! A Box! Go quick, mom, get the box! My friend is here!

Do I look okay? Any tuna stuck in my teeth? Does this fur make my butt look big? I hope I make a good first impression.

She's back with the box. It's just a plain brown paper wrapped box. OH NO! There's no air holes! Open it, open it! My friend can't breathe!

Huh. It's sure pink, isn't it? I've never heard of a pink Jack Rabbit, but mom has always said we can't judge by appearances. I'm really afraid that being in the box without airholes has killed it. My friend just lies there, not moving. Mom's leaving the room - maybe she's going to call 911 or something. I think he's dead.

Let me touch him. Soft. Not like any rabbit I've ever seen before. Hello. Hello. I'm talking to you, wabbit! Maybe if I nudge him again right here on this spot….

OHMYOHMYOHMYOHMY!

He's not dead!!! He must be ticklish! I touched that spot on his side and he started wiggling and purring like all get out! He purrs so hard that his whole body shakes. And that thing with the ears is kinda' weird…

As soon as I get down from the ceiling I'm going to say howdy.
