As I turned on my computer first thing this morning and began surfing the daily celebrity gossip blogs, I began to wonder what we ever did before the Internet. I mean, seriously... how did people get along without checking email? Reading blogs? Watching the latest |
While most expectant mothers are very gracious about accepting compliments regarding their swelling bellies, Britney Spears wanted no such attention, especially from fellow crooner Jessica Simpson. US Weekly reports that when Jessica approached Britney backstage at the Teen Choice Awards (where Britney's hubby, Kevin Federline, enthusiastically belted out his single "Lose Control" to close the awards), Britney was less than accommodating. According to the report, Jessica asked Britney whether she could kiss her pregnant belly, to which Britney responded with a resounding, "Hell, no!" Am I the only one who thinks that's the first time Britney's uttered the word "no" in her entire life, especially in response to a proposition of that nature?
It seems Tom Cruise's antics have finally caught up with him. If you haven't yet heard the newsflash that's been making headlines all over the place, Tom has been fired for... well, for being crazy. A year or two late, in my opinion, but better late than never. "As much as we like him personally," the Viacom Inc. chairman told The Wall Street Journal, "we thought it was wrong to renew his deal." Redstone estimated that Cruise's off-screen behavior cost his latest movie, "Mission: Impossible III," $100 million to $150 million in ticket sales, even as he praised the film as "the best of the three movies" in the action series. Ah, well, that explains it. Being nuts is okay, as long as you're still bringing in the big bucks. The moment that's not happening, you can expect to get canned. Lesson learned.
Beyonce Knowles has been making headlines of her own for getting her curvy body into top shape for her latest role. Her secret to losing 20 pounds in no time flat? That's easy, and you can do it, too! It's called the Maple Syrup diet. Just mix the syrup with water, lemon juice and cayenne pepper and live off that for as long as you can. When you begin to pass out from the effort of, say, lifting the glass to your mouth, you'll know it's working.
Riding hard on Mel Gibson's heels shouldn't be a bad thing for a young Hollywood actor, or at least it wouldn't be if we were actually talking about acting ability or multi-million dollar contracts. In this case, though, we're talking about drinking and driving... and getting caught doing it. Haley Joel Osment -- you remember him, he's the kid who whispered "I see dead people" so convincingly in The Sixth Sense -- "was charged with four criminal counts including: driving while having a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher with the special allegation of having a blood alcohol content of .15 or higher, and possession of marijuana while driving." Ah... they grow up so fast, don't they?
Did you know Paris Hilton is the best singer in the entire world? Uh huh. She really is! According to her, at any rate. In a recent interview, she admitted she cries when she listens to her album, because "it's so good." Frankly, I don't doubt she cries... and I'm sure lots of other people have the same reaction. In fact, many of them also clutch their ears with both hands and double over in pain while tears stream down their face. Because it's so good, of course.
That's all the news fit to print for this month. Check back for more celebrity gossip in the next issue of A Cheeky Changeling!
