Devarian Exile

by Sierra Dafoe

From the site:
Under the laws of the Nine-Star League, all men are slaves. But when Soleyla Devarian, a captain of the elite League Guardians, falls in love with her new pleasure-slave, Kantou, she begins to question the very League she is sworn to uphold.

Badly abused by his previous owner, Kantou is handsome, intelligent, and emotionally vulnerable. Soleyla, moved by his desperate yearning to find a woman to whom he can give himself utterly, is determined to prove she is that woman. She vows to win Kantou's trust and make him feel safe enough to allow himself the complete sexual submission she knows he craves.

But when she is posted to Antoros, a newly discovered world in the far reaches of the galaxy, Soleyla finds herself equally drawn to Rolen, the fiery, passionate leader of the Antorean rebels the Guardians have been ordered to crush. Now Soleyla's trapped between two alluring men and their conflicting desires -- and there's only one way to fulfill them both!

I picked up this book after it was recommended to me, highly recommended I might add and I'm so glad that I did. I was drawn in from page one picturing the alien worlds that Sierra Dafoe has created. I was able to visualize the market Soleyla traveled to, and admire the pleasure-slaves along with her.

Throughout this book I was captivated by the characters and loved getting a glimpse into everyone's mind. I felt Kantou's pain as he struggled with his past hurts, and felt myself wrapped up in the heat as this book progressed. The characters each have their own strengths and weaknesses and the unveiling of them is so well done. Ms. Dafoe's incredible imagination is only part of the attraction of this book. For me the fact that she was able to give me, the reader, even a glimpse into these worlds was magical. I will definitely be picking up more of Ms. Dafoe's books and look forward to being immersed in her worlds once more.
