Hot Spot Interviews
Fiona Jayde

Welcome one and all to the Hot Spot, where you'll be snooping with Sierra, asking your favorite Changeling authors the questions you REALLY want answered! How long have they been writing? BAH! Who cares?! We want the naughty, the juicy, the REAL inside track*! Give us dirt, give us details! That's what the Hot Spot's for!

*All my interviewees have promised to be absolutely honest, but you know writers and their imaginations…

This month in the Hot Spot, we have new Changeling author, Fiona Jayde! Mwuhahaha! I looove the virgins… Fiona made her debut in February with GrimJustin 1: DeBriefed, which TRS described as "off the charts hot"! A rollicking sci-fi adventure that results when hunky Jack Brenner has to obtain a key code sequence from special agent Dinah Burns by any means -- fair or foul. This month, the GrimJustin adventures continue in DisArmed.

Sierra Dafoe: So Fiona, what brought you to erotic romance? And what brought you specifically to Changeling?

Fiona Jayde: Angela Knight - on both counts. I picked up one of her books (Mercenaries) - before going on my honeymoon trip. (Hey, you wanted juicy!) Well, aside from a wonderful time (snicker) I was absolutely enthralled with the book. (Well, we had to take a break SOMETIME!) I always wanted to write romances, specifically really steamy ones and never knew this genre existed. In addition to inspiring me, AK let me know about Changeling. You know what they say about the rest and history.

Sierra: I love your description of GrimJustin (which is, by the way, the name of the spaceship): you called it "more Millennium Falcon than Star Destroyer. Kinda worn, kinda torn, a bit rough around the edges." I absolutely love that! So, what role does GrimJustin play in the stories?

Fiona: Thanks - that was the only way I could think of describing it, being a Star Wars junkie =)

GrimJustin is the uniting thread in the series. Each story is different, but the characters live, work and play on the ship. GrimJustin is also the first to take a beating if a character has pissed off someone with firepower, or in case of DeBriefed, when Dinah (accidentally!) fired on it. It really was an accident. And Brenner made sure she properly paid for it.

Sierra: Now, tell us about the characters. In DeBriefed, Dinah and Jack already have a history (including a virtual-reality seduction that curled my toes, let alone Dinah's!). Is the same true for Kara and Halloway?

Fiona: Well if you want your toes curled, try calling Duke "Halloway" and see what happens =)

Yes, I often have my characters have a history prior to the beginning. In DisArmed (GrimJustin2), Kara and Duke have a history as well. However, Duke denies his attraction to Kara since she betrayed him. (She did. She really did. She couldn't help it.) Unfortunately for him, Kara needs a steady influx of his DNA. He'd already shed plenty of blood for her so that leaves other methods.

Sierra: So, what do you like best about writing for Changeling so far? Is it the scintillating companionship, the discriminating fans, the ability to take a love scene just as far as it'll go?

Fiona: I really love the creative freedom. From sci-fi to fantasy to myths, I feel like I can explore anything my sick little mind can think of. And the support I've been getting from other writers has been incredible.

Sierra: And speaking of love scenes, what one that you've written has been your favorite so far?

Fiona: That virtual ménage with Jack, Dinah and Jack was a favorite. Although the scene where Duke and Kara get it on in front of six or seven monitors so they see themselves doing it from every angle was really fun to write as well.

Sierra: Which one is something you'd love to try?

Fiona: Well, they don't make virtual reality machines like that yet… But maybe by the time I'm published in thirteen languages?

Sierra: And while we're on the subject, what's one scene you've researched personally?

Fiona: The logistics of a ménage can be gruesome. And before anyone gets too interested, let me just say Wikipedia.

Sierra: Now, of course, you gotta give up the goods! That's right, woman, we want a sneak peek, a sizzling preview! (Greedy? Nah, it's a filthy lie -- we just like our hot stuff!)

Fiona: You got it =)

Duke's lips slid over hers again, warm, gentle. He took his time, teased her lips until she moaned, opened her mouth. He delved inside, his flavor exploding on her senses. Arching up, she whimpered to get closer, unable to get there as the restraints held her and the only thing that helped were his hands, his thumbs on her jaw, his fingers under her neck, supporting her, lifting her to his mouth.

He drew away.

She moaned in protest.

He brushed his fingers on the sides of her breasts, watched her jerk. "Say you're sorry."

"Huh?"

He circled her breasts with his fingertips, not touching the budding peaks. His mouth played over hers once more. She moved, twisted her head to the side trying to stop him, stop herself.

"The restraints are exciting, aren't they?" He cupped her breasts, lifted them. "Remind me to thank the patent holder."

She didn't give a fuck about the patent holder. Heat and fury battled in her belly. She was afraid heat was going to win.

"Now where were we?" He cradled her swelling breasts in each large palm, still making no attempt to touch the aching tips. "You were apologizing."

Damn it, just get it over with. "Fine. Sorry."

He chuckled. Pursed his lips, nodding. And she bit back a moan, shuddering in pleasure as he slid his thumbs over each sensitive nipple. "I don't think you mean it." He kissed her again.

Lust mixed with fire. She took what he gave, demanded more. Arching into his touch, she offered her breasts to pleasure. He kneaded, stroked, and rubbed the hard nubs of her nipples through her suit. His taste exploded in her head, the feel of his hands on her swollen breasts stabbing bursts of pleasure through her.

He tugged at the litZip, drew it down. Pushed her suit apart. Bared her.

Warm callused hands closed over her sensitive skin, gentle, then bolder, rougher, his mouth pressing burning nips on her jaw, her ear, her cheek, returning to her lips again. He kissed her ruthlessly, cleverly, and she tried to remind herself that it was him, Holloway Duke, that he would kill her at first opportunity, as she moaned like a bitch in heat under him.

The thought was enough to break her out of it.

She bit him.
