Welcome to Spring

If you are allergic to something, it means that your immune system attacks that substance, even though the substance is harmless. Allergies are triggered by many things, but the most common ones involve plant pollens, medical drugs and substances in food. Most allergies produce a mild reaction, although they can still make people feel very unwell. A few can make people dangerously ill. People who are severely allergic - for example, to nuts - have to be careful about what they eat or touch to avoid triggering their allergy by accident. Micrscopic pollen grains cause Hay Fever - an allergy that affects about 1 person in 10.
