Ramblings of a Jack Russell Terrier
by Anne Kane

Sometimes a dog's life is just plain good. It's been damp and rainy since Christmas which is not normal for here. The author says we're having a Coastal winter. I think that means the weather is never any good for cross country skiing. There's a lot of ice outside instead of snow so we are spending more time playing in the house than we usually do, which is great. Want to guess what's so great about it?

Movie nights! We get to do lots and lots of movie nights. They are the best ever. I snuggle up on the sofa beside the author with my fuzzy blanket. There's always food; lots of popcorn and pretzels and potato chips. The author gets wine spritzers, too, but she refuses to share so they must be good. She makes me drink water.

Sometimes the movies aren't so great. We watched four movies in a row that had absolutely no dogs in them. A couple of them had the same title; X-men. I can't figure that out because they all looked human to me and none of the people looked like X's. There was this guy called Wolverine in the last one, though. He was really cool. He could stare at you like a Doberman in a bad mood.

My favorite was a movie called 'Up'. It didn't have real people in it, just drawing-picture-people. There were lots of dogs in that one. The star of the movie was a dog named Doug. Doug could talk human, and he was so handsome!. His hair hung down over his eyes, and he could bounce better than any Jack Russell I've ever met. He helped the human boy with the funny clothes to save a big ugly bird from the bad human. The bad human had lots of dogs, but in the end the dogs all did what Doug told them to do. He was so masterful. I hope they do one of those sequel things. I want to see more of Doug.
