Shivers raced up her spine. Excitement skittered across her skin like soft rain on a meadow. Her inner dragon sat up and sniffed the air. Pure decadent male mixed with the scent of Irish Spring soap. God, she loved that smell. It made her think of long leisurely showers soaping up a nice hard body like reconnaissance before beginning round two of a night of Fuckfest.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Edward." Reluctantly, she released his hand and tried not to rub her still tingling palm and fingers on her thigh. His touch was electrifying. What would it feel like to have his large palms on her naked flesh?
"Please, call me Eddie, and the pleasure's all mine."
"Oh, I don't think so," she murmured quietly as she studied him from under her eyelashes. She had quite an expressive face, something she knew from experience. It wouldn't do to chase him away because her dragon was impatient and aggressive.
"Wait." He snagged her hand again and tugged her close. Confused and curious, she looked up and met his gaze. He was tall, but not too uncomfortably tall. All he had to do was lean down a little, and if she rose on tiptoe their lips could meet. It wasn't until his gaze lowered to her mouth that she realized her tongue had darted out to wet her suddenly dry lips.
Shit. Instantaneous attraction? This was instantaneous combustion. She was going to burst into flames and burn if he didn't kiss her. He had to feel it. It couldn't all be one-sided, could it? Holy shit. If he wasn't feeling the same thing she was feeling right now he'd better pray her inner dragon stayed submissive. Once that bitch came out to play even Casey knew to let her have her fun.
"Come here often?" His eyebrows arched, then waggled. Oh God, the man was flirting with her.
Casey couldn't stop the too girly giggle that bubbled up.
"I'm glad you find my son so amusing, Ms. Jones."
"Son?" Casey stiffened to attention and looked back and forth between her boss and Eddie. She really didn't see much of a resemblance. Her boss was six feet four with dirty blond hair and green eyes. As she stared at Eddie, with his definite Asian background and average height of probably five feet ten, she grew even more confused. She remembered meeting Mrs. Williams once. She was tall and blonde and Swedish. Where did this son come from?
"My mom was his first wife." Eddie grinned good-naturedly and took a sip of his beer. "You haven't met me yet because you are still new at the firm, and I just got back from another tour."
"Your last tour."
Eddie frowned at his father and rubbed his knee.
Last tour? Was something wrong with his knee? A lot of questions begged to be asked, but it wasn't her place to ask them. It was none of her business. She was the new intern. One trying to keep too many secrets to pry into other people's.
"Come on, Dad. This is happy hour, not harp on your son and suck all the fun out of life hour."
Casey tried to hold back a laugh, but failed miserably as it escaped. Faking a cough, she looked away from them and back to the bustling bar crowd. Anything but sinking into his dark brown eyes. Eyes that had a hint of orange.
A sudden static shock on her shoulder had her gasping out loud as she turned her attention back to the table and Eddie. He had an unusual expression on his face as he slowly raised his arm and made a show out of shaking his hand. "Damn, woman. You pack quite a punch." His grin was contagious and she was smiling back at him before she could stop herself.
Oh God, she hadn't even been this pathetic in high school -- had she? Time to get a breather and figure out what she wanted to do. Taking Eddie home for a night of fun had been a possibility until she'd found out he was her boss' son. That changed everything. Everything. Exactly how much of an age gap was there between them?
"I'm going to go get a refill." And think about this. Casey rose and scooped up her glass on her way to the bar. Well shit. The first time she felt lust this strong and it would be her boss' son. That complicated things.
"Don't let the old coot intimidate you." Eddie sat his empty glass down on the bar next to hers.
"I'm not intimidated."
"No?" He turned his body toward her and leaned on his arm against the bar. The movement made his shirt draw tight against his chest, revealing that though he may no longer be in the military, he was still in prime physical condition. Oh what she'd like to do to his body with her mouth and hands...
His lips were moving, making her realize he was talking. Shit.
"Once you realized your boss is my dad you clammed up and disappeared. I'd say you are intimidated or scared."
Casey shook her head. This was too much all at once. It was too tempting to say to hell with the consequences, but then where would she be? She accepted her drink from the bartender. Before she could put her money down, Eddie's hand covered hers. "She's on the Williams' tab."
She wanted to protest, but when she looked into his eyes, her thoughts swam. He really was cute. Sexy. All that toned, tanned skin and playful attitude made him irresistible. It wasn't even his looks. It was him. Her soul knew his soul. Instant recognition. He was a complete stranger, but she felt as if she already knew him.
Compatibility? Hell, she didn't care how compatible they were as long as he let her curl up beside him and snuggle. His hand was still on hers, warming her like nothing else she'd ever experienced. This just might be worth the risk. Could she do it? Dare she do it?
